Realtor profile: Julee Brooke
Paul Weideman | The New Mexican

August, 2008
This interview series focuses on Realtors in the Santa Fe area.
Julee Brooke is an associate broker with Santa Fe Realty Partners.

How long have you been in real estate?
A little over five years.

How did you get into it?
I went through a pretty methodical thought process and self-exploration process about it, because I had gone from one career to another fairly rapidly. I realized I wanted something that suited me on a day-by-day basis and something that I could really grow with.

Other things I had chosen to do were maybe socially responsible: teaching, designing curriculum, and law, but they were more what I felt I should do. This time I tried to pick something that fit my personality. I looked at the tasks you do, working with people, doing things for smaller bits of time.

And on your own hours?
Well, people say it’s your own hours but I’ve found it’s almost all the time. If you really want to be good and know what you’re doing, I think it takes as much time as any other career.

Did you also choose it for the money you could make?
After moving to Santa Fe, I realized it was not an inexpensive place to live, so I needed to do something where I could support myself.
